40012  Make-Over at Barrow Hill ........ June 2013 - March 2018 

Bogie Fracture repairs ..... Air Tank's  re-certified .....  Radiators repaired ..... All four cab sides replaced with new metal ..... 
Roof body side grills re-placed with new ones .... New water hoses and gaskets fitted ..... Reconditioned set of batteries fitted .....
Brand new windscreen rubbers fitted along with new engine room windows and cab door rubbers ..... New engine oil ..... 
New oil filters ..... Thermostatic valves overhauled ..... Brush boxes and mounting posts sent away to Bowers Electricial for overhaul 
Both cabs completely re-painted ..... Full re-paint into BR Blue livery .....  to name just a few jobs undertaken at Barrow Hill

​40012 progress: All of the main generator brush boxes and mounting posts have now been removed and will be sent away for overhaul. This will also allow easier access to clean the generator. All pictures by David Richard Downer 

​40012 progress: Over the last three weeks all of the droplight drip trays have been installed and three of the droplights have been refitted together witn new wood surrounds. All pictures taken by David Richard Downer 

​The CFA have been doing overtime at the weekend. On Saturday Gary Hinson, Daniel Baggaley and I were at Barrow Hill. The backs of the cab panels have been cleaned and painted. Gary has started to reassemble the windows and droplights in cab 1. Details of the Sunday shift to follow. All pictures taken by David Richard Downer 

This weekend has seen both nose ends rubbed down, one filled and one ready for filling. Thanks to nigel lacy coming on his day off to scrape out and steam clean the rad room. Not a task for to be taken lightly.  All pictures taken by Andrew Lacy
